Stevie Stay at the Border Ranges

Posted by Uniqwa Collections on

A beautiful relaxing sanctuary, a place for guests to unwind and escape from the busyness of life. That was the intention set by hospitality duo – Katie and Steve when they brought to life Stevie Stay earlier this year.  This charming vintage caravan and woodfire heated tub has grown into a sought-after Airbnb getaway.

After owning and managing hospitality businesses for more than three decades, and Steve working as a chef for more than four, Katie and Steve decided to sell their Alstonville café and relocate to a sprawling 12-acre property in Pumpenbil, New South Wales. Not quite ready for retirement, the duo wanted to share their beautiful part of the world and Steve’s mouth-watering cuisines, and so the idea of Stevie Stay, an Airbnb away from the world was born.

Lovingly restored to maintain its old-school vintage charm, the 1973 Viscount van – Stevie, is perched perfectly on the foothills of nearby ranges, offering panoramic views of Mount Warning, McPherson Ranges and the Border Ranges.

The name Stevie comes from the couples love of iconic 70’s band -Fleetwood Mac and in particular, their lead singer Stevie Nicks, whose tunes they envisioned would’ve been playing on the radio back in the day as their vintage Viscount van – Stevie, was pulled along by an old Holden station wagon in true Aussie style.

When designing the space, Katie opted for a simplistic approach, allowing the surrounding nature to be the focal point of their property. Inspired by Scandinavian style, Katie selected a combination of Uniqwa Collections pieces to add a level of crisp luxury and functionality to the small interior space and front porch area. Their beautiful additions include; our Akoni Side Table, Stacks Stools, Vintage Stools, Vintage Wooden Bucket, Indaaba Dining Chairs, Cafe Dining Table, Kubu Terracotta Pot, Kunda Terracotta Pot and Nommo Terracotta Pot.

Aside from the beautifully decorated and functional interior – which is complete with luxurious French bed linen, high-quality eco-friendly toiletries, thought-provoking books, and most importantly, a coffee machine - the property is also home to its most loved aspect, a woodfired hot tub.  Guests can enjoy a restorative soak in the cedar wood tub with a delicious locally sourced wine in hand, as they watch the sun set over the picturesque mountains and await their delectable chef’s dinner - made with love and passion by Steve.

Other facilities include a kitchenette equipped with all the essentials should guests choose to cook for themselves - personally, we’d recommend you enhance your stay and opt for Steve’s delicious meals instead. There’s also an ensuite with a shower and environmentally friendly compost toilet, a sturdy outdoor deck complete with a BBQ, an outdoor shower, a cosy fire pit and many stunning yet comfortable Uniqwa Collections seating options available.

To complement the already relaxing experience, guests wake to a homemade breakfast consisting of muesli, yoghurt and berry compote. Alternatively, chef Steve provides guests with the option of upgrading their stay to include a freshly cooked breakfast, antipasto platter paired with complimentary wine or kombucha and a mouth-watering dinner– all made using locally sourced produce or fresh produce straight from the garden.

We love seeing our Uniqwa Collections pieces come to life in a variety of different spaces. It’s safe to say that this cosy, Instagrammable Airbnb is a labour of love for both Katie and Steve, they’ve certainly created a calming sanctuary where you can immerse yourself in nature. A place to reset, relax and be present.
